Reading the drift number
The number is how far a stick sits from dead center while you are not touching it, on a scale where 1.0 is fully deflected. A healthy stick settles under about 0.05. Above 0.08 you will notice it as slow movement in games that do not apply their own deadzone. The ring drawn on each stick marks that threshold, so you can see the resting dot sitting outside it rather than interpreting a decimal.
Common questions
Why does the page not see my controller?
Browsers hide gamepads until you press a button on them. This is a deliberate privacy measure to stop sites identifying you by your hardware. Connect the controller, then press any button.
How do I check for stick drift?
Take your hands off the controller completely, then click Re-check drift. The reading shows how far each stick sits from center at rest. Anything above 0.08 is drift you will feel in games.
Can stick drift be fixed?
Sometimes. Compressed air or contact cleaner around the stick base clears dust, which causes a good share of cases. Worn potentiometers cannot be cleaned back to health and need the stick module replaced.
My triggers read 0.50 when untouched. Is that broken?
Usually not. Some controllers report triggers as an axis that rests at center rather than at zero, which the browser then shows as a half-pressed value. Pull and release the trigger and watch whether it moves smoothly through its range.
Why does vibration do nothing?
Vibration needs both browser and controller support. Chrome and Edge support it on most modern controllers, Firefox and Safari are limited, and controllers connected over Bluetooth sometimes expose it and sometimes do not.
